Going into this weekend, Somers had been hot. It had taken out multiple top teams. But Saturday Nyack put one ball in the cage and kept the Tuskers from doing the same, gaining its seventh win of the season.
That was a bit of a surprise, as was Rye’s low-scoring win over John Jay.
Not surprising were Lakeland’s and Scarsdale’s easy wins, as the top two teams in the area showed no signs of slippage.

Nyack 1, Somers 0: Hailey Whalen scored off an Ava Dobbolaer assist as the Indians increased their record to 7-2-1.
Nyack dominated penalty corners 8-1.
Jess Monaco had six saves for the Tuskers.
Liz Lavender has three saves for Nyack.
Lakeland 9, Mahopac 0: Meghan Fahey had three goals and an assist, Mia Lennon two goals and an assist and Kelsey McCrudden had two goals.
Caroline Cahill and Julianna Capello also scored.
Caroline Lischinsky had two assists and Cahill, Capello, Cali Cortese and Jessica Ascencao had one assist apiece.
Indians keeper Shannon Barry had 11 saves.
Kellie Smith stopped two shots in 30 minutes of play for Lakeland. Cassie Halpin didn’t face a shot in her 30 minutes.
Lakeland is 11-0.
Scarsdale 8, Arlington 0: Erin Nicholas scored three times and Emma Coleman and Jilly Mehlman both found the back of the net twice.
Audrey Shaev also added a goal as the Raiders raised their season record to 11-1.
Shaev, Nicholas and Angie Burns had assists.
Arlington goalie Sophia Fister had 15 saves.
Clarkstown South 7, Yorktown 0: Yorktown’s Olivia Sanchez had an eye-popping 33 saves but the Vikings picked up their ninth win against only one loss as both Annie O’Neill and Colleen Geyer scored twice.
Dara Studnitzer, Miranda Linehan and Kaitlyn Ahle also scored.
Studnitzer, Grace Dempsey, Sabrina Cacapit, Colleen Geyer and Danielle Noia had assists.
Clarkstown South’s Jackie McDonnel had one save.
Rye 2, John Jay 1: Fusine Govaert scored and assisted on Lainie Agosta’s goal as the Garnets recorded their ninth win against just two losses.
John Jay goalie Hayley Martinsen had a strong game with 17 saves.
Maggie Devlin turned away four shots for Rye.
North Rockland 3, Nanuet 1: Caitlyn Lynch scored twice and Kerri Gutenberger once.
Vianne Palad scored for Nanuet.
Panas 2, Putnam Valley 0: Danielle Merante scored and assisted on a goal by Jesse Devlin.
Lisa Guzzo also had an assist.
Putnam Valley goalie Lauren Turner had three saves.
