Oakland’s JaCoby Stevens is a candidate for the 2016 All-USA Defensive Player of the Year award

An LSU commitment and No. 1 in The Tennessean’s 2016 Dandy Dozen, Stevens has 28 tackles with five interceptions and a pair of pass deflections for the 6-0 Patriots, who are ranked second in Class 6A.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back and wide receiver has 18 receptions for 412 yards and five scores while also returning a pair of punts for touchdowns.

Stevens, a 2015 Class 6A Mr. Football finalist and the No. 2-rated safety in the country according to 247Sports, was the only player from Tennessee named to the list.

Cesar Chavez (Ariz.) defensive back Tavion Allen, Bishop Gorman (Nev.) defensive back Bubba Bolden, Collinsville (Okla.) linebacker Levi Draper, Plano East (Texas) linebacker Anthony Hines III, Liberty County (Ga.) defensive back Richard LeCounte III, IMG Academy (Fla.) linebacker Dylan Moses, Redlands East Valley (Calif.) defensive end Jaelan Phillips, Mountain Pointe (Ariz.) defensive back Isaiah Pola-Mao and Lee County (Ga.) defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon are also candidates for the award.

Montgomery Bell Academy running back and Tennessee commitment Ty Chandler was named a candidate for the 2016 All-USA Defensive Player of the Year award on Tuesday.
