Pawn Stars is an American television series which follows the daily activities of the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop. The Pawn Star is run by “Old Man,” Rick Harrison, “Big Hoss,” and “Chumlee.” Pawn Stars became the highest rated show on The History Channel. Throughout the series, many customers bring in various artifacts and old treasures to sell or pawn. The staff haggles with the customers over the price and provides the historical background of the item. Many of the characters have become internet famous like Big Hoss and Chumlee. Over the course of many years, the show has 10 seasons and is still currently running on The History Channel.

The show starts off with the famous opening, “I’m Rick Harrison and this is my pawn shop.” We are introduced to the characters with Old Man being Rick’s dad and Big Hoss who is Rick’s Son. The first item a customer brings into the shop is an 1890 Hotchkiss Gun. This gun was used during the American Indian wars and could be worth up to $40,000 if it can be authenticated with a test fire. The second item brought in was a replica of Roman Armor brought in by a former Casino Employee. The third item was a 1.5 ton Knapp table saw which provides a challenge of transferring it to the shop. During the episode there’s lots of banter and jokes. After Old Man misidentifies a Carson City silver dollar the staff jokes about him getting an eye exam. CV Student Gus Deely has this to say about Pawn Stars: “The show’s pretty good and Big Hoss is my favorite character.”
