The Pittsburgh Penguins took on the New York Islanders Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh Penguins battled against the New York Islanders on Thursday, October 27th 2016 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  This will be Penguins captain Sidney Crosby’s second game back in action since being diagnosed with a concussion before the beginning of the season.  The Penguins struck first just 46 seconds into the game on a power play goal scored by Patric Hornqvist.  The Islanders would tie the game up late in the second period on a goal by Travis Hamonick.  The Pens would go on to score again in the third period on a goal by Evgeni Malkin giving them the go ahead lead.  With roughly four minutes remaining in the third the Islanders would strike again giving them life to tie the game.  Although the Penguins seem discouraged, they didn’t give up and they would score just two minutes later giving them the lead.  They would go on to score again and win the game by a final score of 4-2.  Students from Chartiers Valley High School were interviewed on their thoughts about the game.

Sean McCrerey, (grade 12) “I think that the Penguins played a solid defensive game aside from the slight slip up with four minutes remaining.  I’m glad Sid is back and he is off to a good start of the season with the amount of points he is putting up for the team.”

Brandon Marcucci, (grade 12) “The Penguins played a great game and they deserved the win.  I think that the score should have been a lot higher for the Penguins.”

The Penguins next game will be against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, October 29th in Philadelphia, PA.
