The Pittsburgh Penguins took on the Florida Panthers on December 8 2016.
The Pittsburgh Penguins took on the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center in Florida. Sidney Crosby would open up the goal scoring early and give the Penguins an early 1-0 lead. They would go on to score two more before the end of the first period on goals from Connor Sheary and a deflection goal by Tom Kuhnhackl from Tom Wilson. The Penguins would be up 3-0 after the first period which is the first time they lead a game after the first period in eight games. The Penguins would hold the lead and end up winning by a final score of 5-1. That marks the Penguins fourth straight win since the start of December, and a surging Sidney Crosby now has 18 goals on the season which leads the league, even though he missed the first six games of the season this year with a concussion. Students from Chartiers Valley High School were interviewed on their thoughts about the game.
Sean McCrerey (grade 12), “I think they played really well and they deserved the win. That deflection goal scored by Tom Kuhnhackl was pretty sweet and I watched it a few times because his hand eye coordination was really impressive”.
Brandon Marcucci (grade 12) “The Penguins went into Thursday night’s game ready to play. They are playing a game of hockey unlike no other team in the NHL right now, and they are hot. I think that if they keep this up this will be another Penguin repeat in the Stanely Cup Playoffs”.
The Penguins next game, they will play against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday December 10 at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay
