Phil Kessel doesn't seem too beat up over him not making team USA for the World Cup.

The World Cup of Hockey is a special event throughout the world that takes place every 3-5 years, so getting picked to play for this event would make most players feel special to represent where they come from.  However, not everybody gets to be picked and one player that has surprised everyone the most not getting picked, is Phil Kessel.  Phil Kessel is a very good goal scorer, has good speed when he needs to, and has a Stanley Cup Championship to help back up his case. However, that was not even enough for him to be able to get selected by his home country team USA. Phil recently made a tweet about the situation, “Just sitting around the house tonight w my dog.  Felt like I should be doing something important, but couldn’t put my finger on it.” Students from Chartiers Valley High School were interviewed on their thoughts about the situation.

Brandon Marcucci, (Grade 12) “I think Phil should have definitely been picked to play for Team USA, and I think the tweet he made was hilarious.  Team USA is not doing good at all in the World Cup, they are struggling. Phil probably would make that team quite better.”

Sean McCrerey, (Grade 12) “Phil should have definitely been picked to play for the World Cup.  He’s a very good player and totally deserved to play for his country.  I feel bad for the guy.”

Phil’s sense of humor seems to have stirred up the pot quite a bit with John Torterella, however there is nothing anybody can do to change what has been done.
