We’ve all heard the overzealous dad at the Little League game. He complains about the umpire, coach and anybody else that doesn’t realize his kid is better than everybody else’s kid. And if you haven’t heard him, chances are you’re that guy. And nobody likes that guy. He’s the worst.
Pleasanton Little League realizes this, so the organization posted a message from all the children playing baseball this season:
REMINDERS FROM YOUR CHILD:
— I’m a KID
— It’s Just a GAME
— My Coach is a VOLUNTEER
— The Officials are HUMANS
— NO College Scholarships will be Handed Out Today
A picture of the sign was posted to imgur and shared on Reddit with the appropriate subject line: “This sign should be at every Little League field.” It quickly went viral and even landed on the “TODAY” show.
“It’s nice to see something this positive get so much attention,” said Pleasanton Little League publicity manager Jenny Wiggins told the Pleasanton Express. “We wanted to reach out to our small town, but it is so exciting that it is reaching places all over the country.”
When a town named Pleasanton isn’t even safe from obnoxious parents at youth sporting events, it’s time to take a stand, so it’s only right this Little League was the one to promote change. Bravo.
