It’s that time of year again where the sun starts to shine more often, the weather gets warmer, and baseball becomes popular again. The Pirates from Pittsburgh are a team predicted to do very well this season and go deep into the playoffs. They have been robbed the past three years making it to the Wild-Card both times and getting smashed. That has been a huge debate in the years since, whether to extend the length of games played for the wild card. None the less, the Pirates return all starters, except second baseman Neil Walker. Which will be a big detriment to them on both the offensive and defensive side.
Walker seemed to be a very debatable trade, because most believe he was reaching his peak and playing better than any other second basemen in the league. Although they still have there franchise player in, Andrew McCutchen, with arguably the best outfield with Marte, Polanco, and as mentioned McCutchen. Baseball analysts predict the pirates will be producing lots of runs with their bats this year and will be the top caliber line-up.
Quinn Boyle, a Junior from Chartiers Valley, stated, “The Pirates look really strong this year and I expect big things from them”. Everyone wants the Buccos to win a World Series since it has been quite some time since the last time they won.
Junior Jack Barlow said ” The Pirates seem to be fighting for redemption against the NL Central division. It was arguably the toughest division in all of the MLB, and the Pirates had their best season in decades and still came up short, which really gets my blood flowing when you see your home team on a roll, but still coming up short.”
The Pirates are going be a powerhouse this year and expect big things and a big run in the post-season as well.
