Pittsburgh Penguins Hot Streak

Without a doubt, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the hottest team in the NHL right now, but with a slow start to the season, it was time for a turnaround for the Penguins. The Penguins fired head coach Mike Johnston after quite the sluggish start to the season. The Penguins just have too much talent on one team to not be Stanley cup contenders. It also looked that our top players were not performing up to their standard. The Pens then hired Mike Sullivan as the new head coach. It was time for the Pens to go in a different direction.

The Penguins really started playing better hockey in the new year. Especially this month, the Penguins have won 9 of their past 10 games. After taking down the Washington Capitals, the best team in the NHL, everyone could see that the Penguins were becoming a tough team to beat again. With Evgeni Malkin out, it would seem the Penguins would struggle without him. But it is hard to see who is not contributing to the team right now. Everyone on the team is playing great. Especially team captain Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang. Another player who has really been playing well is Phil Kessel; who seemed to have a slow start to this season, but just won us a shoot out against the Buffalo Sabers on Tuesday.

When I asked junior Josh Windshimer about the Pens he told reporters “The Penguins are the best team in the NHL right now, everyone is playing so well. Even the Wilks-Barre kids are playing some great hockey right now. We will be tough competitors.”
