Ponder's no-no one for the record books at Enka

Enka’s booster club has spent much of the past 24 hours trying to put Jack Ponder’s no-hitter into perspective.

The conclusion after much research? The no-no is believed to be one of only a couple in the history of the Jets’ baseball program.

Ponder is a right-handed junior who struck out 11 McDowell batters and only walked four in Friday’s 1-0 Mountain Athletic Conference game in Candler.

Enka (6-9, 3-4) pushed across a run in the bottom of the second inning. Tanner Revis (2-for-3) was the only Jets batter with more than one hit. Trace Lovingood and Tucker Kuykendall were both 1-3.

Enka’s next game is Monday at home against Western Highlands Conference leader Madison (10-3).
