Poudre High School quarterback James Campbell ran for two scores and the other Poudre quarterback, Troy McFadden ran for one as the Impalas used their two-quarterback attack to beat Douglas County 38-7 Friday night.
Faced with a tight quarterback battle between the incumbent Campbell and the inexperienced, but intriguing McFadden, Poudre Coach Marty McVicker vowed he’d play both skilled players against Douglas County and then name the No. 1 guy before next week’s game at Mountain Vista.
The suspense continues, but the Impalas (1-0) have a win in their pocket.
Poudre opened scoring with a JT Erickson run in the first quarter. The running back would add a 20-yard score early in the third quarter that put the Impalas up 21-7. Campbell ran for both his scores in the fourth quarter, while McFadden scored his touchdown with 2:52 left in the half, giving Poudre the 14-7 halftime lead.
