Bailey Nemecheckand Jordan Falsetto scored first-half goals to lead the Fort Collins High School girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Fossil Ridge, handing the SaberCats their first loss of the season.
Nemecheck found the net in the 28th minute off an assist from Nicole Dietrich, while Falsetto scored in the 37th on a pass from Britton Smotherman. Fort Collins goalkeeper Glorianne Trippe finished with the shutout.
Fort Collins (3-2) next plays Thursday at Greeley West, while Fossil Ridge (4-1) hosts Palmer Ridge on Saturday.
POUDRE 3, GREELEY WEST 0 — Alli Gray scored two goals and Kaili Schroeder added another as the Impalas improve to 2-3.
LIBERTY COMMON 4, ESTES PARK 0 — Olivia Bachelet scored three goals and assisted on the team’s fourth as the Eagles improve to 6-0.
Hannah Kohl scored in the 18th minute on the assist from Bachelet. She assisted on Bachelet’s fourth goal, in the 68th minute.
HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 3, ROCKY MOUNTAIN LUTHERAN 2 — Hannah Fenlason, Abby Kershner and Makeda Ephraim scored the goals for the Eagles (1-1).
ROCKY MOUNTAIN 24, POMONA 1 — The hits kept coming for the Lobos. John Sorenson had two home runs, Chris Diehl had two triples, Kalen Hammer tripled and Casey Kostrzewa and Alex Gonzales also homered.
Kadin Breeze earned the win, striking out eight.
WINDSOR 17, PONDEROSA 16 — Ponderosa scored 11 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game, but the Wizards managed to hold on.
Braden Penninger went 4 for 5, while Mitchell Watson smacked two home runs. Windsor starting pitcher Christian Montague struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings.
POUDRE 8, HIGHLANDS RANCH 7 — Troy McFadden went 3 for 4, while Caiden Boyt, Keaton Bartlett and Cameron Spaeth each had an RBI as the Impalas move to 2-5.
FOSSIL RIDGE 4, THOMPSON VALLEY 3 — The SaberCats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to steal one from Thompson Valley.
Tanner Hoke scored the winning run on an error by Thompson Valley. Dante Randolph and Jimmy Souverein each had doubles for Fossil Ridge (2-4).
FOSSIL RIDGE 92, FAIRVIEW 91 — Craig Heimark won the 200-yard freestyle, and Fossil Ridge teammate Danny Kovac won the 100-yard freestyle as the SaberCats edged Fairview.
Kovac teamed with Ross Lannen, Mason Fine and Kris Malinin to win the 200-yard medley relay, while Heimark, Kovac, Sam Ybarra and Richard Dauksher won the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Diver Will Henrickson scored 182.4 points to win the diving competition.
FORT COLLINS 85, BOULDER 85 — The Lambkins won three relays and Alex Dragan won the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle in the tightly-contested dual. Lucius Gao added a win in the 500-yard freestyle.
MONARCH COYOTE INVITE — Fossil Ridge’s Cammie Fowler finished second, shooting an 80, and teammate Kayla Elder shot an 87 to finish fifth as the SaberCats placed second, two strokes behind Monarch.
Windsor’s Jessica Zapf placed sixth as the Wizards finished fourth.
FOSSIL RIDGE 7, FORT COLLINS 0 — The SaberCats swept Fort Collins as Maddie Torrey, Tara Teslow and Bailey Koronich each won their singles matches, while the doubles teams all won in straight sets.
