Singles players Tara Teslow and Bailey Koronich won the Nos. 2 and 3 matches in straight sets, and Fossil Ridge High School teams swept the doubles matches in a 6-1 girls tennis win over host Greeley West.
Fossil Ridge’s doubles wins came from the teams of Emma Houghgon and Erika Wiley; Lindsey Noble and Erin Hogan; Amita Pandey and Savannah Smith; and Kim Collamore and Cambry Van Tassel. Pandey and Smith had to rally for a 6-7, 6-1, 10-8 win after dropping the opening set.
WINDSOR 100, ESTES PARK 86 — Colby Horton earned state-qualifying times while winning both the 100-yard butterfly and 500 freestyle events, and teammate Justin Krebs also won two individual events, one with a state-qualifying time, to lead Windsor over host Estes Park.
Horton won the 100 butterfly in 58.20 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:17.09 and joined forces with Krebs, Ethan Ragatz and Garrett Ludwick on a 200 medley relay team that also earned a state-qualifying time of 1:51.91 while finishing second to Estes Park.
Krebs turned in a state-qualifying time in the 100 backstroke, winning in 1:02.02, and also won the 200 individual medley.
Windsor’s Matt Fries won the 200 freestyle, and Ludwick won the 50 freestyle. The Wizards also won the 400 freestyle relay.
TOPSAIL (N.C.) 5, ROCKY MOUNTAIN 2 — Austin Alarid had two hits for Rocky Mountain in a loss to Topsail of Hampstead, North Carolina, in the National High School Invitational in Cary, North Carolina.
Casey Kostrzewa and Brendan Paul drove in one run apiece for the Lobos, who fell to 0-2 in the prestigious tournament at the USA Baseball training complex.
Rocky Mountain will play another consolation game in the tournament at 7:15 a.m. Friday against Poly Prep of Brooklyn, New York.
Numerous high school sports events were postponed a day after a spring storm dropped more than a foot of snow on Fort Collins and the surrounding area.
Among the casualties were two crosstown girls soccer games, Fort Collins at Rocky Mountain and Poudre at Fossil Ridge. No makeup dates were announced. Also lost were Adams City at Resurrection Christian and Liberty Common at Sterling girls soccer games, with no makeup dates announced, and a Windsor at Mead game that will be made up at 6 p.m. Monday.
Postponed baseball games included an Adams City at Fort Collins game and a Windsor at Frederick contest. There was no makeup date announced for the Fort Collins game. The Windsor at Frederick game was rescheduled for 4 p.m. Friday.
Also postponed was the Poudre School District Cup girls golf tournament at Collindale Golf Course — no makeup date was announced — and girls tennis matches between Poudre and Mountain Range and Windsor and Berthoud. No makeup date was announced for the Poudre-Mountain Range match, while the Windsor-Berthoud match was rescheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Friday’s Runners Roost Invitational track and field meet was moved from French Field at Rocky Mountain High School to Fort Collins High School because of the snow. It will begin as originally scheduled at 1 p.m.
