The Poudre High School girls basketball team improved its winning streak to three games by knocking off crosstown rival Fossil Ridge 48-43 on Monday night.
Junior guard McKenzee Gertz scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Impalas and Madison Hamm (11) and Emily Tomasini (10) scored in double figures. Sisters Ashley and Sami Steffeck led Fossil Ridge (13-8, 7-3 FRL) in scoring with nine and eight points, respectively.
The win moved Poudre (16-5, 7-3) ahead of Fossil Ridge in the Front Range League standings.
WINDSOR 75, PONDEROSA 39 — Amanda Ward scored a game-high 34 points Monday to lead the Windsor High School girls basketball team past Ponderosa.
The Wizards were in control from the opening tip, jumping ahead 24-4 in the first quarter. It was the second consecutive win for Windsor (18-3, 10-2), taking a one-game break from Tri-Valley play.
The 34 points by Ward was her second-best scoring performance of the season, previously scoring 35 points in the season opener against Mountain View on Dec. 2. Samantha Greene and Payton Hoffman added eight points apiece.
