The Windsor High School girls soccer team had no problem dispatching Battle Mountain in the Class 4A playoffs on Saturday.
The No. 3 Wizards (16-1) scored three goals in the first 10 minutes and rolled to a 9-1 victory over No. 14 Battle Mountain (13-5).
The same teams played in the quarterfinals last year at Battle Mountain, with Windsor securing a narrow 1-0 win. The quick start erased any hope for the visitors this time.

“We talked about how we beat them on their home turf last year and they’re a really good team, so it was important that we matched the intensity early in the game,” coach Mario Garcia said.
Nile Koenig had two goals, Chaynee Kingsbury had two goals and two assists, Adalyn Vergara had a goal and an assist and Margaret Zimmerman had two goals. Riley Bliesmer and Alyssa Lobato also added goals.
The Wizards will host the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Thursday against No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain (10-4-2). Cheyenne Mountain has won the last three 4A state titles.
LIBERTY COMMON 4, ST. MARY’S 1 — Olivia Bachelet scored twice as the No. 5 Eagles (14-2) won at home in the second round game against No. 21 St. Mary’s in the 3A playoffs. Eve Norman and Sam Tsiouvaras added a goal each.
TENNIS CHAMPS: Fossil Ridge doubles team of Hogan, Noble wins state
Liberty Common now advances to the the quarterfinals where they will play at No. 4 Jefferson Academy (12-4) on Thursday. A game time has not been set.
FRONT RANGE LEAGUE MEET — Fossil Ridge obliterated the competition at the league meet at Mountain View. The SaberCats, the defending 5A state champions, were first with 1,025 points with Legacy second at 484. Fort Collins was fourth at 423, Rocky Mountain was sixth at 394 and Poudre was 12th with 85.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Mason Fine, Loren Gillilan, Danny Kovac and Craig Heimark set a FRL record with a time of 3:09.77, breaking a 20-year-old record held by Fort Collins. The SaberCats also won the 200 free relay (Heimark, Kris Malinin, Matt Geraghty and Shamzi Alkaff) and the 200 medley relay (Kovac, Ross Lannen, Gillilan and Fine).
Kovac won the 200 IM in 1:54.62 and the 100 back in 51.09. Gillilan won the 100 fly in 51.04. Heimark won the 100 free in 47.54.
The Fort Collins team of Lucius Gao, Sam Roth, Jack Holter and Alex Dragan was second in the 200 medley relay in 1:40.24. Gao finished third in the 100 back in 54.34, and Holter was fourth in the 500 free in 4:52.55. Dragan was second in the 200 free in 1:45.22 and third in the 50 free in 22.07.
Rocky Mountain’s Kyle Sherman was second in the 100 free in 48.25. Sawyer Kruse was fourth in the 100 backstroke in 54.52. Jack Miller was fourth in the 100 fly in 53.12. Poudre’s top individual finisher was Gabe Rabold, coming in 14th in the 200 free.
Fossil Ridge’s Mark Morehouse was voted the FRL Coach of the Year.
NORTHERN CONFERENCE MEET —Windsor finished third as a team. Riley Miller, Ethan Hansbury, Colby Horton and Garrett Ludwick broke their own school record in the 200 medley realy. Horton set a school record in the 100 fly and placed first in the 100 back.
