Providence names Ken Allender new girls golf coach

By

Providence didn’t have to look far for its next girls golf coach. The school announced Wednesday that boys golf coach Ken Allender will now lead both teams.

Allender, a former All-Army Golf Team Europe member and tournament pro, has been with the Pioneers boys coach for five years. He holds several area course records and has been affiliated with the PGA of America for more than two decades.

“I appreciate the opportunity to expand my responsibility to oversee the girls’ program at Providence High School,” Allender said in a news release. “It is my intention to bring in a highly qualified staff to best benefit these young ladies.

“My personal gratification comes in the value of teaching young men and women a tool that can benefit them the rest of their life, both personally and professionally.”
