In an important Desert Valley League baseball game, The Indio Rajahs pulled out an 8-7 victory over Palm Springs Wednesday.
The Rajahs were led by Bryan Esparza who was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Mikey Munoz was 2 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored, Mike Zavala had two hits and two RBI, while Ricardo Torres was 2 for 4 with two RBI.
Torres also earned the win as the starting pitcher with Fernando Cordova pitching the 7th inning for the save.
Indio is now 15-8 overall and 4-5 in the DVL. The Rajahs’ next game is Friday night at Palm Springs.
Palm Desert 16, Cathedral City 0: Trinity Villa and Carly Williams combined on a two-hitter as the Aztecs won the Desert Valley League game.
Alyssa Velasquez, Jamiana Gateb, Sydney Sprinkle, Emily Hagar, Trinity Villa and Carly Williams all had multiple hits for Palm Desert, which improved to 4-5 in the DVL. Galeb added four runs batted in.
Palm Desert will host Indio on Friday night.
De Anza League finals: A power outage caused a disruption in recording the meet results for the boys and girls De Anza League swimming finals.
Shadow Hills coach Alicia Chatigny reported that the Knights broke several meet records, team records and earned new CIF times, both automoatic anc consideration times.
Shadow Hills swimmers Ramsie Haskell and Josh Purificacion were named DAL female and male swimmers of the year.
