The Indio Rajahs baseball team ended play in the Rotary Tournament with a 10-4 win over Calipatria High School Wednesday.
Dominic Huerta led the Rajahs with a 4-for-4 day, scoring four wins and driving in one run. Mikey Munoz was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ricardo Torres was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Mike Zavala was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Torres was the winning pitcher for Indio, throwing five innings with five strikeouts and no earned runs while allowing just two hits.
The Rajahs are now 9-5 overall, 1-1 in the Desert Valley League. Indio’s next game is Tuesday at Cathedral City.
La Quinta 9, Desert Christian 0: Andrew Garcia threw a one-hitter and struck out eight batters as the Blackhawks earned the non-league victory.
Frank Silva was 1-for-2, with three runs scored for La Quinta. Joel Osuna added a home run and Jeremy Gleason was had a double and two RBIs.
Bloomington Christian 13, Palm Valley 0: The Firebirds managed just four hits in the loss Tuesday while committing three errors.
Chynna Doremus was pitching with Sarah Olson behind the plate for Palm Valley.
Loyola 359, La Quinta 398: The Blackhawks fell to a strong Loyola team in the non-league match at PGA West.
La Quinta was led by Grant Calender at 72, followed by Isaac Calderon’s 76, Mark Williams at 80, Daniel Krause at 83, Michael Choma at 87, Nick Conoway at 88 and Daniel Marrujo at 94.
All five Loyola scores that were counted were at 73 or better, with three players shooting 71.
La Quinta, 10-2 overall, plays again Thursday at SilverRock in La Quinta against Amador Valley.
College of the Desert wins PAC event: The Roadrunners returned to their winning ways in a Pacific Athletic Conference match at Twin Oaks Country Club in San Marcos.
The Roadrunners had a team score of 368 followed by second-place Palomar at 373.
Leading the way for COD were Ryan Emery and Mike Schaloum at 72. Michael Starbuck shot 73, Sam Jackson shot 74 and Kenzo Vlassaks 77.
College of the Desert will travel to Long Beach Monday to play Skylinks Golf Course.
