Here’s one way to get attention from college recruits: Run a 4.3 in the 40-yard dash at The Nike Opening Regionals.

Wide receiver Tyrell Shavers from Lewisville, Texas, did just that at the Dallas regional event and his recruiting took off.

The result: A scholarship offer from Alabama that he accepted Monday after making an unofficial visit.

Shavers, who received an invite to The Opening Finals off his performance in Dallas, chose Alabama over reported offers from 26 schools.

“I enjoyed myself,” Shavers told 247Sports, which first reported his commitment. “Alabama is the National Champs. My recruitment is over. I’m playing for the best.”

Shavers is ranked as the No. 23 wide receiver in the nation and No. 25 prospect in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Shavers’ commitment continues a run for the Crimson Tide, which landed top-ranked kicker Brandon Ruiz and four-star linebacker Markeil Benton in the last few days.
