Rachel Winters and Charity Bradley combined for 28 kills and 23 digs as Desert Hills swept Canyon View (25-19, 25-11, 25-15) at home. Hailee Harmer led the way with 31 assists in the win for the Thunder.
Up next for Desert Hills is the Region 9 opener as the Thunder take on Dixie next Thursday. Canyon View will host Carbon that same day.
Volleyball: Enterprise 3, Delta 0
The Enterprise Wolves kept its home dominance going with a 3-0 sweep over the Delta Rabbits (25-16, 25-15, 26-24). Next up for the Wolves is a home game against Millard next Tuesday.
Soccer: Canyon View 8, Richfield 0
Canyon View is off to a 2-0 start in Region 12 after a six-goal first half propelled the Falcons to a win over Richfield.
Morgan Haag scored a hat trick and Sydnee Evans scored twice for CV, which also saw goals from Allie Lloyd, Tobi Lister and Mia Smith.
Tennis: Desert Hills 4, Hurricane 1
Erica Evans (6-1, 6-2) and Morgan Behymer (6-0, 6-1) grabbed singles wins and the Thunder won both doubles matches to secure a win over Hurricane. The Tigers’ lone point came via a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win by Katie Werrett at No. 3 singles.
Tennis: Pine View 4, Snow Canyon 1
Hattie Erekson (6-0, 6-1), Brielle Callahan (6-0, 6-1) and Julia Meyer (6-2, 6-4) picked up straight-sets wins as the Panthers dominated singles against Snow Canyon. The Warriors No. 1 doubles team of Addy Southam and Charlotte Apple picked up SC’s lone point with a 6-1, 6-4 win. PV’s No. 2 doubles duo of Kiralyn Mulloy and Ryann Blaser won 6-3, 6-2.
Tennis: Dixie 5, Cedar 0
Dixie didn’t lose a set as the Flyers swept Cedar. Angela Crooks (6-0, 6-0), Ashley Kezos (6-4, 6-3) and Annie Heaton (6-4, 6-2) won at singles and the doubles teams of Ashley Gadani/Ashley Stevens (6-0, 6-3) and Tess Larkin/Kalli Beckstrom (6-1, 6-1) won at doubles.
DSU Soccer: Trailblazers 2, Humboldt State 0
The Dixie State women’s soccer team picked up its first victory of the season with a 2-0 win at home over the Humboldt State Jacks. The Trailblazers picked up a goal in each half as Darian McCloy started the game off with a goal in the 15th minute. In the 54th minute, Erica Gonzalez scored off a deflection to blast one home for the 2-0 cushion.
DSU’s defensive was dominant throughout the match as HSU was limited to just three total shot attempts. The Trailblazers finished with 16 shots and Keeper Angelica Cuicci got the shutout.
DSU Volleyball: Western Washington 3, Trailblazers 0
Dixie State dropped to 2-2 on the season after getting swept by No. 14 Western Washington (13-25, 14-25, 22-25) Thursday night in GNAC/PacWest/CCAA Crossover Tournament. DSU will play two matches on Friday, the first vs. No. 12 Alaska Anchorage at 4 p.m., followed up with a game against No. 15 Cal State San Bernardino at 9 p.m.
