Connor Allard will be able to put his studies to good use in his future athletic endeavors.
Allard, a senior at Reno High, was one of 12 Huskies to sign their letters of intent for college athletics Tuesday at the school.
Allard signed with Nevada where he plans to play catcher on the Wolf Pack baseball team. He will study psychology at Nevada.
“I’ve always been interested in it. The brain is an interesting thing and not very many things are known about it,” Allard said of studying psychology.
He might be able to use psychology to deal with struggling pitchers. Allard is batting .459 this season with a .649 slugging percentage for the Huskies (8-4).
He hopes to play right away for the Wolf Pack, but knows the skill level is much higher in Division I college sports.
“At the next level, there’s a lot of good talent, everybody’s really good, so I guess we’ll see what happens,” Allard said.
