A coaching change is imminent for a Hoosier Hills Conference boys basketball program.
The North Lawrence Community School Board voted 4-3 Thursday not to renew Bedford North Lawrence coach Jamie Hudson’s contract.
Head man for nine seasons at BNL, Hudson led the Class 4-A Stars to a 107-96 record. He guided BNL to a 14-11 record this past season before falling to Jeffersonville 68-49 in the Class 4-A Seymour Sectional first round.
“I really enjoyed my nine years here,” Hudson said. “… I’ve been blessed with a lot of great kids. We built some great relationships that will last a lifetime. As a coach, having those relationships is more important than any win or loss or sectional title to me.”
BNL finished inside the top three in conference play each of the past three seasons, including a second-place finish to eventual 4-A state champion New Albany this year. And while the Stars claimed just one league championship during Hudson’s tenure, he owns a 40-23 record in HHC play.
Board president Larry Arnold made it clear the vote was not performance-related.
“There were a lot of (factors),” Arnold said in a phone interview with The Courier-Journal. “Unfortunately, with this being a personnel decision … we can’t disclose a lot of the details.
“I will tell you it had nothing to do with win-loss.”
