GREENVILLE – Buffalo Gap and Riverheads battled to a 2-2 tie until things came undone for Gap and the Gladiators ran away with a 10-2 win Friday in softball.
Kelly Coffey and Cassidey Chrisman had solo home runs in the bottom of the fourth to give the Gladiators a narrow 2-1 lead. Gap tied it in the top of the fifth behind an triple by Mary Beth Strickler to lead off the inning.
In the bottom of the frame, the Gladiators were able to take advantage of bases on balls and errors to score eight runs to decide the contest.
Makala Krysiewicz put together three solid innings of relief for Riverheads with six strikeouts.
Buffalo Gap batters were led by Sierra Clifton who went 2-4 with a double and Amber Stokes who went 2-3.
Riverheads improves to 14-1 and heads to East Rockingham on Tuesday and Buffalo Gap will take a 10-4 mark to Stuarts Draft.
