The Rocky Mountain High School girls soccer team opened the floodgates on Fort Collins on Saturday night at French Field after an even start to the game.
The Lobos scored three goals late in the first half, tacked on two more at the end of the second half and rolled to a 5-0 win in the city rivalry game.
After a tight start to the game, sophomore Madison Williams opened the scoring with a long shot in the 28th minute. Seven minutes later fellow sophomore Jade Gosar pounced on a loose ball in the box and hammered it home to make it 2-0.
Williams then scored a penalty kick after being taken down in the box with two seconds left in the half.
Fort Collins (4-3, 3-1 Front Range League) came on strong early in the second half, but Rocky Mountain (4-1-1, 3-0 FRL) was able to keep the Lambkins off the board.
Right before the game came to a close, junior Stephanie Muchow scored a sensational goal with a shot outside the box hitting the post and going in. Gosar added her second of the night off a rebound less than a minute later to seal the resounding win.
FOSSIL RIDGE 4, PALMER RIDGE 1 — Visiting Palmer Ridge (2-4-2) took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Fossil Ridge (5-1) exploded for four second-half goals to win. Kylie Metcalf, Reaghan Lang, Macy Schultz and McKenna Schultz all scored for the SaberCats. McKenna Schultz added two assists.
LEWIS-PALMER 2, WINDSOR 1 — Lewis-Palmer, the No. 2 ranked team in 4A, scored two first-half goals to beat Windsor, the No. 5 ranked team. No individual stats were reported.
FORT COLLINS 5, BOULDER 4 — With the game tied 1-1 in the fifth, Brandon Hahn sparked a big rally for Fort Collins (6-1, 1-0 FRL). Hahn doubled in two runs, stole third and scored on a wile pitch in the four-run inning. He finished with a double, triple and three RBIs.
Preston Snavely pitched 6.2 innings, striking out four and allowing one earned run for the Lambkins in the home win over Boulder (3-5, 0-1 FRL).
FOSSIL RIDGE 4, MONARCH 1 — The SaberCats (3-5, 1-0 FRL) only had one hit, but took advantage of Monarch (2-5, 0-1 FRL) errors to win the league opener. AJ Artis was strong on the mound, throwing six innings, allowing five hits, one earned run and striking out three for Fossil Ridge.
Dayton Williams and Tanner Hoke had an RBI each.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN 14, LOVELAND 0 — Alex Gonzales had a double, a home run and four RBIs as the Lobos (3-3, 1-0 FRL) cruised to a win at Loveland (1-5, 0-1 FRL). Austin Alarid had two hits, three RBIs and struck out four batters in 4.1 pitching to earn the win.
Jadon Uhrich and Brady Morris had two RBIs each for Rocky Mountain.
FAIRVIEW 6, POUDRE 5 — The Impalas (2-6, 0-1 FRL) forced the defending league champions into extra innings, but Fairview (4-3, 1-0 FRL) pulled out the road win. Cameron Spaeth hit a home run, Caiden Boyt had a triple and Tanner Schoeninger had three hits in the loss.
RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN 13, MANITOU SPRINGS 3 — Nathan Wiggins had a triple and three RBIs as the Cougars (3-4) took third in the Northern Colorado Baseball Classic.
Brin Hayden had two doubles, Jake Tomcheck had a triple and Luke Fick earned the win on the mound.
LIBERTY COMMON SWEPT — Playing two games at Front Range Christian, Liberty Common (3-2) dropped both. The Eagles lost the first game 9-0 and the second 6-3.
FOSSIL RIDGE 7, STEAMBOAT SPRINGS 0 — The SaberCats swept in six of seven positions in the home win. Maddie Torrey, Tara Teslow and Erica Wiley won in singles.
Amity Pandey and Aubrey Leonard won at No. 1 doubles. Savannah Smith and Lindsey Noble won at No. 2 doubles, Kim Collamore and Cambri Van Tassell won at No. 3 doubles and Kelsey Morris and Audrey Tsoi won at No. 4 doubles.
TRACK AND FIELD
LEGEND TRACK CLASH — Fossil Ridge’s Chloë Woest set school records in both the pole vault and the long jump. She won the pole vault at 12-feet. She finished third in long jump at 17-9. She also took fourth in the 100 hurdles.
Rocky Mountain’s Gabriella McDonald won the shot put at 39-9 before returning to Fort Collins to start in goal and earn the shutout for the girls soccer team.
Rocky Mountain’s Callin Naddy was second in the girls 1,600 run and fourth in the 800. Tate Thornton was third in the triple jump.
On the boys side for Fossil Ridge, Dylan Ko was second in the 1,600, Keaton Schelir was second in the 3,200 and Jared Brannen was second in the 300 hurdles.
The Fossil Ridge girls 3,200 relay team of Promise Butler, Billie Fogarty, Sydney Teslow and Anya Tcachenko finished first.
Rocky Mountain was fourth, and Fossil Ridge was fifth on the girls side. The Fossil Ridge boys finished sixth and Rocky Mountain was 12th.
