Tyler Van Steenburgh threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Nowah Rosado in overtime as the visiting Franklin D. Roosevelt High School football team topped Kingston 19-13 on Friday at Dietz Memorial Stadium.

Van Steenburgh, in his second snap of the game, tossed a fade to Rosado for the winning score on the first play of overtime. Kingston had tried to convert a field goal, but failed. Amone played the third and fourth quarters, taking over at quarterback for Justin Guerrero.

“I was very proud with the guys who had to step in,” said Roosevelt coach Brian Bellino, whose team improved to 3-2. “I thought we were awesome on defense.”

E.J. Budai had two touchdowns – one for 56 yards and one for one yard. Bellino noted strong defensive play from Neil Tompkins and Budai.

Roosevelt (3-2) hosts Warwick at 7 p.m. Oct. 7.
