Rosters released for All-Star soccer game

The rosters for the Pensacola Sports/Subway high school all-star soccer doubleheader, which will be played on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Ashton Brosnaham Park, have been released.

The doubleheader will kick off at 5 p.m. with the girls game, followed by the boys game.

The girls’ game expects to be a competitive battle, with the East team being led by the Catholic foursome of Gabrielle Dosev, Cassidy Wood, Audrey Presnell and Chapman Maraman.

The Crusaders were the lone Escambia County team to advance to the postseason this year. On the flip side, the East team is home to five playoff teams, including Class 4A state runnerup Niceville and Class 3A region finalist Gulf Breeze.

Niceville and Gulf Breeze have five players each on the team, as does 2015 state semifinalist Navarre.

On the boys’ side, the West team will be led by the Washington trio of Nolan Ricketson, Jake Goodspeed and Evan Wimberly. The Wildcats advanced to the second round of the state playoffs before losing to district rival Niceville.

The West will also feature six players from Escambia High and five from Catholic.

The East team will be led by Fort Walton Beach and Choctaw, which have four players apiece in the game. Niceville, which advanced to the Region 1-4A finals.

Tickets to the game are $8 at the gate or $6 if you bring a canned good. Once again, Pensacola Sports is teaming with Manna Food Bank for a canned good drive and encouraging everyone to help families in need by bringing a canned food item to the game.

In addition, Academy Sports + Outdoors will be having a contest for two fans to win up to $100 in Academy gift cards.
