The Battle Creek Central boys soccer team will have the opportunity to defend their All-City Tournament title on Sept. 17 after the Bearcats advanced with a win over Harper Creek on Wednesday.
Battle Creek Central (1-1-0) earned a 4-0 victory over the Beavers. Cesar Duran finished with a hat trick, while David Piang also scored for the Bearcats. Alejandro Bautista, Osvaldo Flores, Jose Chavez, and Kevin Jackson each had an assist, while Isaac Engelhardt earned the shutout with two saves.
Harper Creek (0-1-1) was led by Archie Hantz who made 13 saves in goal.
In the other semifinal, Lakeview defeated Pennfield 7-1 to set up a rematch of last year’s city final.
For Lakeview, Cooper Grosteffon scored three goals while Patrick Thang, Skyler Sebring, Harman Deol and Lal Lian each netted a goal apiece. Deol, Lal Lian, Carter Sullivan, Sebring and Javi Carrillo each had an assist, while Nate Jones made two saves in goal.
Chase Austin had the lone goal for Pennfield and was assisted by Alec Rea. Keith Browand had 15 saves in goal for the Panthers.

MARSHALL 8, QUINCY 0: Seven different Redhawks scored to keep Marshall unbeaten on the season at 2-0-1. Noah Coppo led the way with two goals, with single goals coming from Carter Peek, Jeremy Luciani, Reed Shivley, Jake Lyon, Dustin Lutz and Faraj Zayed. Luciani also had an assist while Cody Clapper had two assists.
LANSING CHRISTIAN 9, MAPLE VALLEY 1: Darius Abbott scored the lone goal for Maple Valley.
SMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS: In the first of the two-day, 18-hole Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference Championships at Stonehedge North, Lakeview posted a team score of 402. The tournament concludes Sept. 28 at Bedford Valley. Leading the Spartans were Haley Lesiow (84), Lauren Helner (103), Meredith Carpenter (104) and Lauren Long (111).
HOLT INVITE: Coldwater finished runner-up in the four-team tournament. Posting flight championships for the Cardinals were Austin Butler (No. 3 singles) and Porter Skidmore (No. 4 singles).
CHELSEA INVITE: In the rain-shortened tournament, Marshall received victories over Bedford and Pinkney from Cooper Busse and Evan Asselin (No. 3 doubles) and Chris Osburn and Grant Busse (No. 4 doubles).
BRONSON 4, BRIDGEMAN 3: The Vikings won the match behind victories from Brandon Hyska (No. 3 singles), Kaden Smith (No. 4 singles), Ryan Wisman and Billy Balowski (No. 2 doubles) and Bowen McCollough and Bryce Bucklin (No. 3 doubles).
GALESBURG-AUGUSTA 4, SOUTH HAVEN 4 (TUE.): The Rams came away with a split behind victories from Branden Burrill (No. 3 singles), Jonah Fleck and Cameron Rupert (No. 2 doubles), Toby Lear and Caleb Lear (No. 3 doubles) and Zack Nantz and Nick Spencer (No. 4 doubles).
