Kaylee Espinoza and Kristen Ranswill combined on the no-hit shutout. Offensively, it’s fair to say Desert Christian Academy had a hot start. How does 16 runs in the first inning sound? Kaylee Espinoza was 4-for-4 with four runs scored. Jahzell Estrada was 4-for-4 with two runs, three doubles, a triple and six RBIs. Ashley Klopfenstein had three hits, a double, triple, run scored and stolen base. Senior Kelsey Bazua had two hits, three runs and four RBIs on senior night. Maycee Jones added two runs and an RBI.
The Conquerors finish the regular season 18-2-1 and 10-0 in league play and await the Division 6 playoff brackets which is released on Monday.
Softball
Palm Springs 10, Indio 1: The Indians held up their end of the bargain, topping Indio to stay tied in the loss column with La Quinta atop the DVL.
Makayla August pitched a two-hitter, striking out seven and earning the win. She also had a single and a home run. Davia Hines and Sarah Martin each added a home run. Kalynn Bedwell had a double and Sylena Black added two singles.
The Indians (17-4, 10-1) play at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at Cathedral City.
Baseball
Desert Christian Academy 6, Joshua Springs 2: Kenny Gagnon was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Conquerors. Brandon Bolton had a single, double and two runs. Tyler Maze got the win, striking out seven in five innings. The Conquerors play Desert Chapel at home on Thursday.
