Brandon Greenspan’s two-run homer gave Roosevelt a seven-run lead in the fourth inning and the visiting Presidents held on to beat Port Jervis High School, 8-7, in baseball on Wednesday.
Greenspan went 3 for 5 with two RBI and two runs, and struck out five in three innings of relief to earn the save. His home run put Roosevelt ahead, 8-1, in the fourth. Brandon Kearns walked three times and scored three runs. Starter Ethan Klein struck out five in four innings for the win.
Brian Scheiner’s two-run single gave the Presidents a 3-1 lead in the second inning. Roosevelt had eight hits and drew nine walks. Dan Rivera was 2 for 3 with a double and a run.
Highland 6, Rondout Valley 3 — Paul Hansut picked up the win with five innings pitched, allowed one run on two hits and struck out four. He also Knocked in two runs at the plate.
Mike Doxey finished 2 for 3 with a double, a single and three RBI while Horodyski finished 2 for 3 with two singles and two runs scored.
Highland (1-1) hosts Onteora on Friday.
Pawling 11, Yonkers 5 — Luke Valentino finished 2 for 4 with a double, two RBI and two hits for the visiting Tigers. Lucas Rendich went 2 for 4 with an RBI and struck out six batters on the mound to close the game.
Starting pitcher David Bellucci struck out seven batters in 4 ⅔ innings.
Spackenkill 21, Poughkeepsie 5 — Connor Lee finished with three hits and four RBI for the visiting Spartans. Ryan Espinoza had three hits and three RBI while Josh Rosario had two hits including a triple, and three RBI.
Rosario pitched four no-hit innings to secure the win.
Steven Dysla cracked two triples for Poughkeepsie, scored two runs and drove in two. Teammate Jake McCormack doubled and scored a run.
Roy C. Ketcham 15, Lakeland 13 — Nick Nevins clubbed a two-run home run with two outs in the 10th inning to lift the Indians to an extra innings victory.
With Ketcham trailing 11-8 in the seventh inning, Nick Sheppard smacked a bases-clearing triple to tie the game. Pitcher Greg Blum picked up the win.
“I’ve been doing this a long time and it was a game that had everything,” said Ketcham coach Pat Mealy, whose team improved to 2-0. “The boys came through when the chips were down and battled right back. The character this team showed is awesome.”
Ketcham hosts Fox Lane on Thursday.
Mollee Stafford doubled and singled for the host Highland Huskies, but they lost 3-0 to Rondout Valley. Sharee Mills hit two singles.
Brewster 4, Roy C. Ketcham 2 — Danielle Kaufmann notched an RBI single and was 1 for 3 for the host Indians.
