It was a tense, tight softball game, but in the end it was the Palm Springs Indians who did enough to earn a valuable Desert Valley League victory over Palm Desert on Friday.

The Indians used an RBI triple from Makayla August in the first inning and an insurance RBI single by Kayla Ayala in the seventh inning to gut out a 2-0 victory.

August did the damage on the mound, going the distance, yielding just three hits and striking out eight. The Indians also got a pair of doubles from Sarah Martin and a pair of singles from Amari Easter.

The Indians (8-2, 2-0) host Twentynine Palms on Tuesday in a non-league game.
