The Shadow Hills High School baseball team stormed into the Coachella Valley Rotary Tournament championship game with a pair of wins on Tuesday.

The Knights topped Desert Christian Academy 11-3 in their opener and Indio 14-10 in its second game of the day.

Shadow Hills (9-4, 2-0) now hosts Fountain Valley at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the championship game.

Against Desert Christian, Hunter Torres was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Sean Roby added a single, triple, two RBIs and two runs, while Christian Wisler had two hits, a double, an RBI, a run and a steal, and Kevin Morden had two hits and three runs scored. Torres and Chuckie Bautista split time on the mound with Torres earning the win and Bautista struck out four in three innings.

Against the Rajahs, Roby had a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. Morden was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored, while Mike Madrigal had two hits and three runs scored. Torres add a double and four RBIs. Fernando Rojas got the win, allowing three earned runs and Kyle Moe pitched three innings in relief.

La Quinta 13, Calipatria 0: On Monday in the first round of the Coachella Valley Rotarty Tournament, Christian Valdez threw a shutout in an easy win. Trey Ladner, Garrett Fisher, Jake Mesa all had multiple hits for the Blackhawks.

Softball

Palm Springs 14, Twentynine Palms 2: Amari Easter had a two-run home run, walked three times and scored four runs to spark the Indians to a lopsided win. Sarah Martin added a double, a home run and four RBIs and earned the pitching victory striking out six. Makayla August had two singles. Raquel Harris had a double, Kalynn Bedwell had a single and a double and Davia Hines had a single and a triple.

Palm Springs (9-2, 2-0) plays Murrieta Mesa on April 6 at 3 p.m. at Indio High School.

Desert Christian Academy 8, Mesa Grande Academy 0: Sophomore pitcher Jahzell Estrada was the story, pitching a no-hitter and striking out a whopping 17 batters.

Abby Wagner was 2-for-4 with a single, two RBIs and an inside-the-park home run. Estrada added a triple and Maycee Jones had three stolen bases and scored twice.

The Conquerors (7-4-1, 1-0) play at Palm Valley on Thursday.

Boys’ golf

Rancho Mirage 251, Yucca Valley 253: The Rattlers nipped Yucca Valley for a home win at the Gary Player Course. Maruricio Alvarez shot a 43 in the win and Benny Leung had a 47. Rancho Mirage (5-2, 4-1) is Thursday against Twentynine Palms.

Local tennis tournament

At Rancho Mirage: The 2nd Annual Rattler Tiebreaker  Doubles Tennis Tournament will be held Saturday on the Rancho Mirage High School tennis courts. Divisions from 3.5 to Open are offered for men’s, women’s and mixed doubles. Prizes for winning teams are donated by local merchants including The Ritz Carlton, Mission Hills C.C., The Westin, Mission Hills, Roy’s restaurant, Desert Willow Golf Resort and Salon by Rhonda. Proceeds benefit the Rancho Mirage High School boys’ and girls’ tennis program.  Contact Owen McIntosh for entry information at 760-568-4805.
