Dominick Pendino and Christian Diaz each scored as the host Marlboro High School boys soccer team defeated Highland 2-0 in the season opener for both teams.

Jawad Haidaoui made seven saves for Marlboro. Dylan Warren made four saves for Highland.

Wallkill 1, Franklin D. Roosevelt 0 – Griffen Pelish made four saves, but the host Presidents lost to the Panthers in their season opener.

Ellenville 8, Millbrook 2 – Alex Censi scored twice, but the Blazers lost in the opener for both teams.

Andrew Radovic made five saves for Millbrook.

Saugerties 4, Poughkeepsie 0 — Jose Martinez made four saves for Poughkeepsie in the loss on the road.

John A. Coleman 6, Webutuck 1 — Brodie Campion scored in the 50th minute and Shane Watson made 13 saves for Webutuck (0-1) on the road. Midfielder Stone Scasso “played both ends of the field well,” Warriors coach Kevin Doyle said.

Webutuck visits Millbrook at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

Girls tennis

Roosevelt 5, Poughkeepsie 0 – The visiting Presidents’ Katrina Ackerman topped Dorothy Belton at first singles, 6-1, 6-0 in Roosevelt’s sweep.
