The Rancho Mirage Rattlers improved to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in De Anza League boys’ tennis action with a 16-2 win over Desert Hot Springs.
Daniel Whelan and Ismael Cuevas picked up two singles sets each for Rancho Mirage, and Luis Velazquez and Alex Fierro each contributed a set win.
In doubles, Marco Giron/Javier Campos and Ivan Hernandez/Carter Victorio won two sets and a set apiece was earned by Steven Martinez/Austin Robison and Jagger Orta/Jonathan Aranda.
Shadow Hills 13, Yucca Valley 5: The Knights secured second place in the De Anza League with the home victory.
Singles player Andrew Limon, Andrew Barney and Elvis Leon all swept their three sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. The doubles team of Matthew Alaniz and Angel Villalobos won two of their three sets.
The Knights finished the regular season with a 12-4 overall record and an 8-2 league record. The Knights will play in the De Anza League finals May 5 and 6 at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens.
Palm Springs 28, Xavier 0: Sarah Martin pitched all five innings, giving up one hit and striking out four, as the Indians scored the Desert Valley League win.
Raquel Harris had a single and a home run, Makayla August had a single, double and two home runs and Martin had a single and a home run for Palm Springs. Samantha Torres had two home runs, one for a grand slam. Caitlin Clinkscales had 2 doubles.
Palm Springs (15-3, 8-0) plays at Xavier again on Tuesday.
Xavier 2, Cathedral City 1: Alan Ferrer went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base and Isaiah Alderete also had two hits and a run scored as the Saints beat Cathedral City Tuesday in Desert Valley League action.
Wysard pitched a complete-game victory for Xavier with seven strikeouts, two walks and three hits. The Cathedral City run was unearned.
Desert Christian 234, Palm Valley 292: Wyatt Snellenberger and Harrison Yu each shot 41 for the Conquerors in the victory.
Nash Johnson added a 43, while William Liu shot 51 and Will Whitaker shot 58.
Mesa Grande 216, Desert Chapel 261: In a Victory League match at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs, Desert Chapel fell in the final dual match of league season.
Aaron Corey shot 43 to led Desert Chapel, followed by Garrett Pena at 44, Joey Spoelder at 52, Shaun Shi at 59 and Andrea Morales at 63.
The Victory League individual tournament begins Monday at Mountain View Country Club in La Quinta.
Shadow Hills 73, Yucca Valley 54: The Knighted scored the school’s first-ever win over Yucca Valley to finish 7-1 overall and 5-1 in league.
Top performers for Shadow Hills were Nyah Chavez in the 1600 (5:39), 800 (2:27) and 3200 (12:05), Mason Stansberry in the 100 (13.02) and 200 (26.92), Jada Toland in the 100 hurdles (17.78) and 300 hurdles (53.33), Vivianna Camarillo in the triple jump (30-10.5) and Melissa Martinez in the shot put (29-5.5).
Yucca Valley 72, Shadow Hills 55: The Knights lost their first meet of the De Azna League season in a tough day against Yucca Valley.
Shadow Hills finishes 7-1 overall, 5-1 in league.
Top performances for the Knights included Isaiah Gonzales in the 1600 (4:44), 800 (2:06) and 3200 (10:37), Maverick Stansberry in the high jump (5-6) and Tony Williams in the triple jump (39-9.5).
