La Quinta softball pitcher Yasmin Nix had an appropriate last name on Friday as she nixed any chance Coachella Valley had of a win, by throwing a no-hitter.
Nix struck out five and held the Arabs hitless in a 9-0 victory for the Blackhawks.
Mia Olvera was 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the offensive attack. Nix added two hits, and Havanna Zanesco had a double and two RBIs, while Lauren Robinson added a double.
The Blackhawks (11-6, 3-0) play at Palm Springs on Tuesday.

Palm Desert 10, Cathedral City 0: Trinity Villa and Carley Williams combined to pitch a 1-hitter to lead the Aztecs to a home win. Bayley Gonzalez was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs and Jamiana Gateb was 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer, her sixth of the year. Shawna Aguerrebere scored twice and Alyssa Velasquez had two RBIs and scored two runs. Emily Hagar scored twice and had an RBI. The Aztecs are 2-1 in DVL and 6-7 overall and play Tuesday at Indio.
Xavier Prep 5, Coachella Valley 2: The Saints corralled an important DVL win, riding a complete game by Alan Ferrer who struck out seven and allowed four hits. The Saints’ Isaiah Alderete had two hits and two stolen bases, while Ryan Van Meeteren had two hits and three runs scored. Oscar Carillo added a pair of hits and a steal, and Ben Wysard had two RBIs.
Indio 6, Cathedral City 0: The Rajahs earned a home win over the Lions. Mike Zavala led the way offensively going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored. Cipriano Rivera had a double and a run scored, and Dominic Huerta was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Fernando Cordova picked up the win throwing six shutout innings, striking out seven and only allowing just one hit. Indio (11-5, 3-1) hosts La Quinta on Tuesday.
Palm Desert 11, Palm Springs 0: The Aztecs rolled past the Indians on Thursday, led offensively by Jeremiah Estrada with three hits and two RBIs and Jonny Cuevas with two hits and three RBIs. On the mound, Estrada pitched five scoreless innings allowing two hits and recording eight strikeouts. Nate Lopez and Keegan Baird each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the shutout.
La Quinta 194, Desert Christian Academy 227: The Blackhawks captured this non-league match thanks to a trio of 37s by Grant Calender, Isaac Calderon and Mark Williams at SilverRock. Daniel Krause added a 40 and Nick Conoway carded a 43.
For the Conquerors, Wyatt Snellenberger was the match-medalist with a 36. He was followed by Harrison Yu (40), Nash Johnson (41), Robert Yu (47) and Victor Su (63).
La Quinta (14-2, 7-1) next plays in the Homer Thomas Poly Classic Monday at Oak Valley.
