The Sacred Heart Academy girls soccer team, last year’s state champion, is ranked No. 16 in the nation in the USA Today/National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason Super 25.
The Valkyries finished 22-4-1 last season, beating Lexington Catholic 1-0 in the state final.
Sacred Heart will open the 2016 season on Aug. 15, hosting Lexington Catholic in a rematch of last year’s state final.
