Congratulations to Satellite High Track and Field athlete Tommy Heideman, FLORIDA TODAY’s high school Athlete of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Heideman won the shot put and discus on April 8 at the Astronaut Last Chance Meet in Titusville. Heideman won the shot put with a distance of 51 feet, 9 inches. He took the discus with a 143-foot throw.

Heideman collected 52 percent of the nearly 1,300 votes cast. Second place was Melbourne Central Catholic baseball player Austin Nickle (21 percent), followed by Rockledge lacrosse player Sage Hick-Fredenburg (13 percent), Viera softball player Kiana East (10 percent) and Rockledge baseball player Mason Studstill (4 percent).
