Cincinnati schools Colerain and St. Xavier have had many memorable chapters in their storied rivalry.
Colerain beat St. Xavier 20-14 during the regular season in overtime, the second year in a row that OT was required. Colerain had a 14-0 lead before St. Xavier came back to tie the score.
“I told the kids you can throw the records out, that’s a great football team,” Colerain coach Tom Bolden said afterward. “They’re banged up, they’re injured and all that kind of stuff, but they never quit.”
The two teams meet again in a Division I Region 4 semifinal Friday. Colerain, ranked No. 14 in the Super 25, enters as the No. 1 seed and St. Xavier as the No. 5 seed.
