The WCAC championship game could be a barnburner if the regular-season meeting was any indication.
DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) downed St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) by a score of 14-13 when they met in late September. That game was played on a wet field so the footing should be better for the rematch.
No. 6 DeMatha has continued its strong, steady play since that meeting, including a pair of victories against Good Counsel (Olney, Md.)
St. John’s has gone 4-1 since that loss and scored at least 34 points in each game. The loss came to Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) in the regular season finale and was avenged a week later in the WCAC semifinals.
According to USA TODAY High School Sports’ score predictor, DeMatha holds a slight edge.
