Wednesday was a day like no other – at least for not for the past 13 seasons.
Scarsdale upset Mamaroneck, which has won the past two Class A New York State Championship, and did so convincingly, 4-0.
The last time the Raiders topped the Tigers was 2003. (See related story.)
Other games included Horace Greeley’s 9-0 shutdown of Byram Hills. Lauren Rosh was a good part of the story there. Making her first varsity start, she scored five times. (Also, see related story.)
But there were also plenty of other games. Below are their recaps.
Suffern 2, Pearl River 1: Dana Meehan and Sophie Jay scored and Kaity Gannon had an assist in the Mounties’ win. Suffern goalie Alyssa Sanchez had eight saves.
Pearl River’s Megan Foiles scored off an assist from Sarah McNamee.
Pirate goalie Kerry Gettler had two stops.
Bronxville 3, Nyack 2: Hannah Weirens, Mia Bettino and Fiona Jones scored for the Broncos.
Ellie Walsh had two assists and Kat Ungvary one.
Morgan MacCartney and Arielle Rodriguez scored for Nyack.
Nyack goalie Elizabeth Lavendar had three saves. Katie Gordon stopped three shots for Bronxville.
Panas 4, Putnam Valley 1: Panas upped its season mark to 2-0 after trailing 1-0 at the half.
Cyera Daughtry scored Putnam Valley’s lone goal at 21:52 of the first half off a Caleigh Jacobs assist.
But it was pretty much all Panthers in the second half as Lisa Guzzo scored twice and Carlyn Mucci scored and had three assists.
Danielle Merante scored the other Panas goal and also had an assist.
Lauren Turner had 10 saves for Put Valley.
Clarkstown South 5, Nanuet 1: Colleen Geyer scored twice and had two assists and Clare Dooley also scored twice in the Vikings’ win.
Dara Studnitzer also scored and Grace Dempsey and Danielle Noia added ssists for Clarkstown South.
Corrine Berkery registered Nanuet’s goal.
Jenna Franchino had five stops for Nanuet and Miranda Linehan stopped one for Clarkstown South.
Pelham 7, Sleepy Hollow 1: Alissa Manos had a huge day with two goals and five assists and Delia Crotty also had two goals in the Pelicans’ win.
Lauren Hade, Ashlynn Mustafa and Jenna Letizia also scored for Pelham. Letzia and Lucy Conway each had an assist.
Josephine Galeotafiore scored for the Headless Horsemen, whose goalie, Marissa Fortugno, had 18 saves.
Lindsay McMan had eight saves for Pelham.
Holy Child 3, St. Luke’s 0: Agustina Garate-Griot, Holly Mackie and Maddie Lyons scored in the win.
Martina Garate-Griot and Mackie had assists.
Charlotte Wertimer had 10 saves for the shutout. Emma Cropper had 12 saves for St. Luke’s.
North Rockland 3, Ursuline 1: Caitlyn Lynch netted two goals and Kerri Gutenburger had the other for the Red Raiders.
Shannon Knipl and Liz Fox had the assists.
Kay Woodtli scored for Ursuline.
Katherine Mannix stopped 15 shots for Ursuline.
