A former NFL player and a national champion wrestler are among 10 individuals and three teams that will be inducted into the Sexton High School Athletic Hall of Fame in September.
Alan Haller, who spent three seasons in the NFL after his college career at MSU, and 1958 NCAA 191-pound wrestling champion Ken Maidlow are part of the fourth hall of fame class at Sexton, which will be inducted at 5 p.m., Sept. 16, in the high school gymnasium.
State champion wrestlers Chris Henderson and Tom Mulder, state champion 400 runner Marcus Sanders, two-time basketball state champion Art Frank, multi-sport athletes James Moore (football, track) and John Holms (football, basketball, track) and coaches Ron Becker (wresting) and Cecil Nickel (basketball) are also part of the Big Reds’ hall of fame class.
The 1986 and 1987 Class A state champion boys track teams coached by Paul Pozega and the 1972 boys basketball squad led by Doug Herner that went 20-2 are also being inducted.
