Seymour High School has hired Tyler Phillips to lead its boys basketball program, per a report Tuesday night.
Phillips comes to Seymour after guiding South Spencer to a 31-18 record and a 2A sectional crown over the past two seasons.
Phillips inherits a program with 29 sectional championships and eight regional titles, though the Owls posted a 6-17 record last season and will be without graduating senior Toriek Miller, a two-time All-Hoosier Hills Conference Team member and a 2015-16 IBCA All-State honorable mention, next year.
Seymour fell to Floyd Central 39-38 in the opening round of the Class 4A Seymour Sectional. The Owls led 38-37 with 4.4 seconds remaining before a game-winner ended their season.
Phillips replaces three-year head coach Kyle Clough, who opted to return to Michigan and accept a coaching position at Rockford High. Clough began both his playing and coaching career in Corunna, Michigan.
