New Albany’s Jenna Shine will continue her basketball career with some familiar faces next season.
Indiana University Southeast women’s basketball on Thursday announced the addition of the 5-foot-11 wing to its 2016-17 roster, which includes two of her former teammates and eight Hoosier Hills Conference alums.
An all-league selection as a senior, Shine averaged 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds with season-highs of 23 points and 10 boards. She’s set to join New Albany teammates Aaliyah Bell and Ashley Lyninger on the next level. The trio paced the Bulldogs to a 16-8 record and a trip to the Class 6A sectional semifinals last season. The program’s win total was its highest since 2004.
“I couldn’t imagine myself not playing anymore and felt like I needed to prove to myself that I was capable of competing at the next level,” Shine said in a statement Thursday. “IU Southeast was attractive to me because it’s local and I can get a good education here while still playing basketball.”
