Creek Wood and Cheatham County will not be playing under the Friday night lights next week.
Instead the two teams, who were originally slated to play Sept. 9, will now be played that Thursday night, Sept 8, due to a shortage of officials that will be available that Friday night. The game will still be played at Creek Wood.
“Our region has so many home games that Friday night, that we don’t have officials in our organization to cover it,” said Creek Wood coach Chuck Daniel.
The game forces both teams to change up their preparation schemes leading up to the game that week, as they have less time to prepare for one another.
“You lose a day of preparation,” said Daniel.
It also affects the middle school game that Thursday night. Charlotte and William James, which was originally going to play Thursday night inside Red Hawk Stadium, will have to play earlier that day.
“That’s a community event we have here at Creek Wood High School, and now they can’t do that,” said Daniel.
“I’ve felt like I’ve went through every avenue to keep it the same, but we just couldn’t do it.”
Kickoff for the Creek Wood vs. Cheatham County is still slated for 7:30 p.m. William James and Charlotte will play at 6 p.m.
