An assistant high school swimming and water polo coach in Southern California has been arrested on suspicion of committing multiple sexual assaults of minors, with police now searching to find other potential victims of the coach and part-time lifeguard.
As reported by the Orange County Register, among sources, 23-year-old Joshua Owens used his role as an assistant swimming and water polo coach at Kennedy High in La Palma to groom young girls for sex, targeting teens aged 14-16. An alleged victim recently reported Owens to authorities, leading to questioning and additional victims coming forward. Now Buena Park police believe that there could be multiple additional victims, based on Owens’ access to young children.
Owens was arrested on suspicion of committing lewd and lascivious acts with minors, charges which are a felony. He posted a $75,000 bail after his arrest, and has not yet been given a formal updated schedule for his next appearance in court.
In the meantime, Buena Park police will continue searching for additional victims who may not yet have become public.
