Sometimes soccer matches are called off early due to weather, or even in extreme cases due to an injury. But neither of those reasons were the case on Tuesday in Brandenburg.
Midway through Bullitt East High School’s boys soccer game at Meade County, the game was stopped after a confrontation at halftime that ended with one of the two assistant referees storming off.
The Kentucky High School Athletics Association said in a statement that they are investigating what went on at the game.
The two coaches met with the head official and Bullitt East coach Mike Brangers decided to take his team off the field in order to protect them from potentially suffering injuries related to the way the referee was calling the match.
