Softball: Monday's schedule, coverage plans Apr. 4-10

By

Well, waking up to snow wasn’t what I expected for a Monday in April, but, such in life.

Every Monday, I’ll post my tentative coverage plans for the week so that you’ll know: If I’ll be covering your team that week, and, more importantly, which days I’m planning to be off. The reason I note the latter is so that coaches (if you’re reading this) know when to email or tweet Debbie their scores and stats instead of me.

I’m starting with my daily predictions today, so I’d like to remind you that all picks are in good fun. I don’t hate your team. Believe me.

Also starting this week will be my player of the week selections, which will go up every Sunday. You can nominate a player by emailing me their name, school, year, and stats for the week (games played Monday through Saturday). Anyone can nominate a player, and there’s no limit to how many times they can win.

Weekly rankings will start next Monday, Apr. 18. The rankings will include the top 10 power rankings (overall, all classes) and class-by-class rankings. Much like predictions, do not take rankings personally. I will rank teams to the best of my ability, but much like my Syracuse Orange have proven, rankings can be proven wrong. Prove me wrong (which will happen, often), and I’ll be the first to tip my hat to you.

BOCES is currently down, so there’s no way of telling which games have been postponed, if any. Here’s what is slated today:

Monday, Apr. 4

Saunders at Harrison, 4:15 p.m.
Yonkers at Eastchester, 4:15 p.m.
Pelham at Lincoln, 4:15 p.m.
Port Chester at Gorton, 4:15 p.m.
Rye at Riverside, 4:15 p.m.
Byram Hills at Nanuet, 4:15 p.m.
New Rochelle vs. Scarsdale at Supply Field, 4:15 p.m.
Non-region opponent vs. Mamaroneck at Central Elementary School, 4:15 p.m.
North Rockland at Tappan Zee, 4:15 p.m.
Clarkstown North at Nyack, 4:15 p.m.
Mahopac at Lakeland, 4:30 p.m.
Arlington B at Peekskill, 4:30 p.m.
Rye Neck at Haldane, 4:30 p.m.
Keio at Edgemont, 4:30 p.m.
Yonkers Montessori at Hamilton, 4:30 p.m.
Putnam Valley at Pleasantville, 4:30 p.m.
Sleepy Hollow at Westlake, 4:45 p.m.

Monday’s plans: Putting as much stock as I have in them this season, coupled with the facts that they’ve been mashing the ball this year so far and I never saw them last year, I think it would be foolish not to see Lakeland host Mahopac. I’m anxious to see the Indians, as well, but I’m really excited to see the Hornets in action. Not really looking forward to the weather.

Coverage plans: Apr. 4-10
