Softball: Monday's schedule, coverage plans May 2-8

I’ve got some vacation time coming to me, on top of owed time, so I’ll only be covering one game this week. There will be a recap post up every morning, whether it’s from myself or Debbie Schechter, but I’m actually going to try and enjoy the time off. There will still be a new column and updated rankings in the paper next Monday, and I will still make a #POTW pick.

Coaches, fans, etc.: Please tweet all scores to @lohudsports or email scores to to ensure your game result gets it. If I’m not checking my phone often on a night off, the score may be missed. Thank you!

Below are some links to stories you might have missed over the weekend:

Column: Something stinks in Somers
(This is a follow-up to the unexpected news of Somers girls basketball coach Kristi Dini being fired Tuesday.)

Rankings: It’s still anybody’s ballgame

Player of the week: Will be announced this morning or early afternoon

Feature: Students become teachers at North Rockland ‘Sports Day’
(This event raised over $20,000 for cancer and cystic fibrosis, and members of the softball team helped run stations at the event.)

Monday’s plans: As mentioned above, I’ll be off most of the week. Tonight, I have my volleyball league, so I won’t be checking my phone for any updates after around 8:30 p.m. I’d still strongly advise you tweet/email the lohud sports account and Debbie for the best chance to get your games in.

Coverage plans, May 2-8

This week’s schedule is pretty simple, for obvious reasons. I don’t see much changing, but I was also off Tuesday when I got word of Dini’s firing. Welcome to the wonderful world of journalism. I’ll still be around, I’m just trying to somewhat enjoy the time off.
