Carissa Della Vecchia threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Roy C. Ketcham softball team over Middletown High School, 5-2, on Thursday in Wappingers Falls.
“Her location was excellent and she had good control of all her pitches,” Indians coach Scott Satterlee said of his pitcher. “She was working the strike zone and challenging hitters. It helped that she also had some good offense backing her up.”
Della Vecchia provided some of that herself. Her two-run homer gave Ketcham a 5-0 lead in the third inning. Courtney Friday hit a solo homer and Kyra-Lee Scianna’s two-run single had put the Indians up, 3-0, in the second.
Ketcham hosts Walter Panas at 11 a.m. Saturday.
