Carissa Della Vecchia threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Roy C. Ketcham softball team over Middletown High School, 5-2, on Thursday in Wappingers Falls.

“Her location was excellent and she had good control of all her pitches,” Indians coach Scott Satterlee said of his pitcher. “She was working the strike zone and challenging hitters. It helped that she also had some good offense backing her up.”

Della Vecchia provided some of that herself. Her two-run homer gave Ketcham a 5-0 lead in the third inning. Courtney Friday hit a solo homer and Kyra-Lee Scianna’s two-run single had put the Indians up, 3-0, in the second.

Ketcham hosts Walter Panas at 11 a.m. Saturday.

New Paltz 4, Red Hook 0 — Bridget Bennett pitched a two-hitter with three walks and 14 strikeouts to lead host New Paltz.

Bennett carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Red Hook’s Grace Folmsbee singled. Georgina Christensen also singled in the seventh inning.

Jacorra Webb had three hits and three RBI for the Huguenots. Adrianna Crimi had a double and an RBI, and Karly Giancola had two hits.

Ellenville 6, Spackenkill 5 — Liana Lopez went 3 for 4 with a single, a double and a home run for the host Spartans.

Gabi Mastrantuono tossed a complete game and fanned 11 batters.

Spackenkill (3-1) visits Onteora at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

Rhinebeck 15, Millbrook 2 — Sara Stiverson struck out 12 in a complete game to lead visiting Rhinebeck.

She also had three hits, including a triple, and had three RBI and three runs for the Hawks. Dani Amidon added two hits for Rhinebeck.

Millbrook’s Sierra Guardiola and Lauren Raylor each had three hits.

Wallkill 20, Beacon 4 — DaVonia LaMar went 2 for 2 with a walk and a run and Trista Maloney was 2 for 3 with an RBI for host Beacon in the loss.

Madison Scarchilli went 2 for 3 with a run for the Bulldogs (0-4).

Beacon hosts Our Lady of Lourdes at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
