Happy Friday and a first of April to you all! I want to lead off today’s post saying that this will be my last day on the softball beat.
Just kidding. OK, now that I’ve got my April Fools’ Day joke out of the way, let’s get to last night’s results. Here’s what happened around the section:
Pearl River 3, Saunders 0: Emily Turilli stuck out 11 in a one-hit performance. Colleen McCoy and Kaitlyn Amato each had three hits for the Pirates.
Westlake 8, North Salem 6: Daniella Mulvey homered and drove in two for the Wildcats. Ali Brunetto earned her first varsity win. Anastasia Pennacchio scored three runs for the Tigers.
Lakeland 18, Haldane 1: Cameron Lischinsky went 4 for 5 with a grand slam and five RBIs. Colleen Walsh fanned 15 in the win. Jenna Houlihan and Krista Verrino drove in three and two runs for the Hornets, respectively.
Monroe-Woodbury 4, Clarkstown South 3: Sara Herskowitz and Abby Zaslav each homered for the Vikings in the loss.
Hen Hud 11, Arlington B 2: Gabby Caruso and Michaela Capicotto each homered for the Sailors.
Pawling 12, Panas 11, 8: Danielle Petrovich homered twice and drove in five for the Panthers in the extra-innings loss. Sam Recine hit a three-run home run for the Panthers and Remi Urreta added a solo blast.
Yorktown 19, Putnam Valley 4: Angie Serrano went 5 for 5 with three RBIs and four runs, falling a homer shy of the cycle. Brianna Buck homered and drove in six. Rachel Stockinger had three RBIs for the Tigers in the loss.
