The premier high school guard in the country will be playing at a gymnasium near you during the 2016-17 basketball season
South Salem’s Evina Westbrook is rated as the No. 1 guard in the country in the latest rankings by espnw100 for the 2017 recruiting class, and the No. 2 player overall.
Westbrook, a 6-foot senior, has narrowed her college choices to Oregon State, Maryland, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee and USC. The early signing period for high school basketball players to sign national letters of intent is Nov. 9.
Westbrook, who has helped lead South Salem to back-to-back 6A state championships, played on the USA Women’s U18 National Team that won a world championship this summer in Valdivia, Chile. She also won a second straight national championship playing for the Cal Stars in AAU.
